About Marek
Marek Kaminski
Marek Kaminski, a polar explorer and traveler. He had completed many expeditions like crossing Greenland and reach
the North and South Pole in the same year without external support. Marek Kaminski also has a long history of serving the community. In order to help more people, he set up a
foundation in 1996.
He had many great achievements, in 1995, He is the first man even in history to reach both Poles in the same year
on foot and without external support. In 2004, he completed the same trip with a 16 years old, disable boy-Jasiek Mela.
Marek has crossed the Gibson Desert and Greenland, reached the springs of the Amazon River, climbed the highest
mountain in Africa and the highest mountain of the Antarctica. He is also the President of the Explorers Club, Polish Branch.
The enormous physical challenge was not the only feature of this expedition. It also carries a charitable purpose.
As Marek Kaminski wrote in his letter after his first visit to the South Pole "If this expedition is to mean something, it must certainly have been for the children, and also for
those who are adults. The challenge of this expedition can be dedicated to them - NEVER BRUSH ASIDE YOUR DREAMS. The greatest value has been not only to reach the Poles, but to do
something meaningful for the underprivileged people. Undoubtedly, sick children are the most in need!" That’s the reason, he always give lectures and sharing to young
people.
Marek got a lot of awards in Poland and other countries, for example the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Promoting
Poland in all over the world’ by Foreign Minister Adam Daniel Rotfeld and the Hans Christian Andersen Ambassador 2005.
Marek wrote several books, to name: e.g.:’ My Poles. Journals of Expeditions 1990-1998,’ (the Artus Best Book of
the Year Award and the “Amber Butterfly’ Arkady Fiedler Award); ‘My Expeditions’ co-authorship of: ‘The Polish Post, or the Unusual Story of a certain Letter’.
